Whole House System vs RO System:

A RO system is different from a whole house system because of the Reverse Osmosis Membrane filter. RO systems make reverse osmosis water and a whole house system does not because most times, there is not a RO membrane filter. Ro units are typically used for drinking water and a whole house system is to filter the entire house. If you have space for a whole house system, you can certainly use it/install it in an apartment. None is better than the other as they serve different purposes. A whole house system still creates drinkable water.

Whole house system is not designed to remove TDS. It will remove sediment, chlorine, arsenic, and fluoride which amount to only few ppm in the water. Most of the TDS in tap water are just calcium and magnesium
